| The Corporate Transparency Act (the “Act”) passed on January 1, 2021 and Proposed Regulations were issued in December of 2022. The Act is another step towards placing the US on similar footing with other similarly positioned OECD and FATF nations in requiring the reporting of the ultimate beneficial owners of companies and similar corporate entities. This seminar will discuss the provisions of the Act and the Proposed Regulations, how they may be applied in practice, comments recently submitted to FinCEN by STEP and other organizations with respect to the Proposed Regulations, and matters that must be addressed by future legislation. |
